How to Choose an SEO Company

It would be easy to tell you just to choose us, but that's not the way we do business plus we doubt you'd fall for it anyway. We'd rather give you the facts, allow you to compare us to other SEO companies, and then let you make the decision. Here are some of the things we recommend you do or look for while choosing an SEO firm, but in case you'd like the opinion of an independent third-party, read Hiring an SEO Consultant at Entreprenur.com.

1. Don't Accept Guarantees. That is, don't accept guarantees SEO companies can't control and therefore may or may not be able to deliver on. For example, "We'll get you the #1 rank for 100 keywords! Satisfaction Guaranteed!!!" or anything similar is a sure sign someone is trying to rip you off. The only #1 rankings anyone can guarantee to put you in are rankings for keywords nobody searches for. And more often than not, when someone says "satisfaction guaranteed" it's merely marketing tricks. They know that even if they do a horrible job, most people won't demand satisfaction (i.e. a refund) and so they can run a profitable business providing virtually no results.

2. Regular Reporting. When we've talked to clients who had a negative experience with a previous SEO firm we often ask them how often they were getting reports and they generally say they never received any, or they got reports only when they asked for them repeatedly. Any SEO company worth their stuff will be eager to provide reports to show they're doing a good job. The only reasons an SEO firm won't provide regular reports is to hide negative results or out of sheer laziness. For the record, The SEO Consultants provides a full set of SEO and analytics reports once per month.

3. Clear Expectations. If a firm can't give you a decent idea of what to expect, then they can keep you hanging on for months by telling you the results are just around the corner. If you have an established website you should be able to see results within 1-2 months. If you're launching a brand new website then it might take 3-4 months or in rare cases even longer, but there are instances where we've achieved very good rankings for clients within weeks and have been able to maintain them for the long-term as well. But remember, this is not a guarantee or prediction of what we can do for you (see point #1), merely a possibility.

4. Don't Sign Long-term Contracts. Unless there are special circumstances, there is no need for a long-term contract for search engine optimization services. All our services are provided on a month-to-month basis and you can quit at anytime.
